The short answer
For agent work, OmniRush. You get frontier GPT models with no subscription, no card and no API bill, a desktop app with swarm agents and a terminal CLI, and a Linux sandbox per project. Cursor is a polished editor, but its Free and Plus plans do not include GPT or Claude at all, and on Premium and above those models are billed per token at API list price.

Price: free versus a plan plus API usage
Cursor's pricing page lists Free ($0, with “limited agent requests” and “limited Chat requests”), Plus ($8 a month), Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200), with a usage pool that “refreshes weekly”. That pool covers Cursor's own models. Cursor's model docs say “Plus and Free don't include third-party models”, and that on Premium and above, Claude, GPT and Gemini are paid “at API list price, paid from prepaid credit”.
OmniRush charges nothing for its GPT models. Every account gets an allowance that refills every day, with no card and no paid tier to upgrade to. So a year of GPT models in the agent costs $0 on OmniRush, against at least $360 on Cursor Premium before the first token of API usage.

Models
OmniRush serves OpenAI's frontier models: GPT 6 Astra (the default), GPT 6.1 Sol and GPT 6 Sol. Every chat starts on GPT 6 Astra, and you can switch the model and the reasoning effort per chat or per run (-m in the CLI). Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Kimi K3.1 Pro are available in OmniRush too, and they work in the same per-project sandbox as every other model. There are no keys to set up. Usage limits apply, and a request may be served by an equivalent or newer model while OmniRush tests models or manages capacity, as the Terms say.
Cursor's included pool covers its own models, Grok and Composer. Plus runs them at fixed settings, and third-party models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini “aren't part of the included pool” on any plan.
What you get with OmniRush
- Frontier GPT models for free: GPT 6 Astra, GPT 6.1 Sol and GPT 6 Sol, with a daily allowance that refills every day. No card, no paid tier, no API bill.
- A desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux with swarm agents: ask for a swarm and several agents split one task side by side, then hand you one summary. It also has a code editor and an IDE layout beside the chat.
- A terminal CLI built on the opencode engine: an interactive agent, one-shot runs with -p, pipes, scripts, CI and SSH.
- A Linux sandbox per project, so the agent's installs and commands run apart from the rest of your machine, and installed packages are still there next time.
- Guarded by default: the agent asks before risky actions such as git writes, destructive commands and sudo. Careful mode asks before every change and command; Auto never asks.
- Built-in best-practice guides for setup, features, bugs, tests, refactors and reviews, and an agent that checks its own changes with your project's checks, sees code diagnostics after edits and keeps notes in AGENTS.md.
- Review, fix and undo built in: /review checks your changes, /fix fixes what it found, and one /undo takes back a whole turn while keeping your own edits.
- Hosted web search for the model, when it is available for your account, with the searches and their sources shown in the chat.
- MCP servers from a supported list: filesystem, git, SQLite, memory, sequential thinking, time, Playwright on local pages, and Figma with your own key.
Editor or agent
Cursor starts from the editor: Tab completion, inline edits and agents inside an IDE, with a CLI and cloud agents beside it. OmniRush starts from the agent: you describe the task, it reads the project, runs the commands and makes the change, and you review the diff. The desktop app has a code editor and an IDE layout beside the chat for that review, and the CLI works anywhere you have a terminal, including over SSH and in CI.
Both work on the same folder. Plenty of people keep their editor open and hand the longer tasks to OmniRush.
Data
OmniRush is funded by brand ads, and data use described in our privacy policy. Read it, with the Terms, before you sign up: together they are the data agreement you accept.
Cursor offers Privacy Mode to every user, free or paid, under which your data is not used for training by Cursor.
Which one should you use?
- Choose OmniRush if you want an agent on frontier GPT models without a subscription or an API bill, a desktop app with swarm agents, a sandbox per project, or one free account for both a window and your terminal.
- Keep Cursor if Tab completion inside its editor is what you pay for, and run the longer agent tasks in OmniRush on the same folder.
- Not sure? OmniRush costs nothing to try: give both the same real task and compare.
